Amor Fati--- a course or a recourse!!
A usual morning Wiki'ing churned out a rather fascinating phrase "Amor Fati".This latin phrase translates to "love of fate" or "love of one's fate".I wondered how apt it was to assume this attitude in which one sees everything happening in one's life,(including the suffering, loss and pain) ,as good. The phenomenon flooded my mind with innumerable questions and left me pondering over it for a while. This also got me into a bit of an analytical mode and I'm still in two minds on the same.Let me give you all too a food for thought.
Course:
The person is undeterred by all misfortunes as he views these events as "unavoidable destined actions" and is in acceptance of all that falls in his way without complaint. He is not gripped by depression.Nor does he lament over the mishaps. He is not broken when things do not fall in place. He moves on.
Recourse:
The person paints his failures as "destined" and is contented arguing none is in his hands. The 'love of fate' takes away his burden of guilt. He lacks the necessary aggression and spark, required to fight back and strive for things if they do not fall in place. He just reclines awaiting good luck to knock at his door. His life now is channelized by destiny than by the course of his will.
The two arguments depict the two contrasting states stemming from the same source. It is entirely upon an individual how he perceives life.
Though failures may be the stepping stones to success but positive attitude is definitely the 'first step' I believe.
Balancin is the key isnt it :)
ReplyDeleteDo not we all imagine ourselves the agents of destiny? Capable of determining our own fate. But do we have any choice in when we rise or when we fall?
ReplyDeleteChallenging the destiny, fighting the failures, is what differentiates, the winner from the others.
Then there are times when long desired aspirations conk out due to the factors beyond your control, so you leave it to -'Destiny' .
