A Good Turn!!
When was the last time you did an act of benevolence?? I felt the same upsurge of emotions a few days ago....
As part of my daily chores I got ready to leave for office one fine morning, but a little late than usual. So as anticipated or feared, when I reached the bus stop the bus had already left. Now the sole option for me was to hurry to another bus stop,a few kilometres from mine, where I could board a bus due 15 min. from then.I called for an autowalla to rush to that stop. But all that while I was pre-occupied with the thought whether I would be able to make it to the stop on time so kept on telling the guy to drive faster. He sped up silently and I reached my destination well on time.I got down, paid the fare, crossed the road and enquired with the fellow commuters. The autorickshaw guy drove away.Haa to my relief, the bus was yet to come...After a while,a lady standing beside me signalled me to the other side of the road.I couldn't understand at first what was she upto. But then looked in the direction she was pointing to. To my disbelief I saw the same autowalla waving my jacket which I had forgotten in the autorickshaw in a hurry. That being my favourite jacket,I ran to the other side of the road.I was overwhelmed at this kind gesture. With all my heart,I thanked him and he departed.
The bus arrived shortly and I boarded, but all through my journey I couldn't get my mind off of what had happened...was it a dream..what if he hadn't bothered and adorned a don't care attitude? Being a complete stranger how did it matter to him if it were my favourite jacket so as to drive all the way back since the time he realized I had left it there? With hundreds of people travelling in his autorickshaw everyday, was it even possible to take care of people's belongings which they left due to their carelessness and find them so as to return their possessions safely?
A marvellous deed...sincere and honest and empathetic.Difficult to believe but yes....such qualities though rare, do exist. When was the last time my act brought a smile on someone's face just as this man's act did that day? All my journey I kept thanking him and no wonder deep down I felt butterflies...I was happy, very happy indeed. :) :)
hmm.... Nothing like a selfless good deed to light up the day sometimes. Pass it on and make someone else's day !!
