If Only...

If only the world knew unity,
there would be no boundary;
The miles that separate our hearts today,
would jingle the tunes of melody!!

If only men showed compassion,
there would be no slavery;
The chains that bound the captivates,
would flower-adorn the compatriots!!

If only the child knew labor pain,
there would be no disrespect;
The womb that carried it nine months,
would not be repaid by old age homes!!

If only the society knew equality,
there would be no infanticide;
The preference that the male child enjoyed,
would emancipate the girl child,if not denied!!

If only the fortunes knew being fair,
there would be no poverty;
The delicacies that the elite enjoy,
would prevent the hunger-deaths of paupers!!

If only the common man knew strength of literacy,
there would be no ignorance;
The might of the pen,
would obviate the need of an army!!

A Good Turn!!

When was the last time you did an act of benevolence?? I felt the same upsurge of emotions a few days ago.... As part of my daily chores I got ready to leave for office one fine morning,but a little late than usual.So as anticipated or feared,when I reached the bus stop the bus had already left.Now the sole option for me was to hurry to another bus stop,a few kilometres from mine,where I could board a bus due 15 min. from then.I called for an autowalla to rush to that stop.But all that while I was pre-occupied with the thought whether I would be able to make it to the stop on time so kept on telling the guy to drive faster.He sped up silently and I reached my destination well on time.I got down,paid the fare,crossed the road and enquired with the fellow commuters.The autorickshaw guy drove away.Haa to my relief,the bus was yet to come...After a while,a lady standing beside me signalled me to the other side of the road.I couldn't understand at first what was she upto.B

A few months ago I learnt how important it was to be open to new ideas.A mind closed to new thoughts,ideas or beliefs that are different from our very own is deprived and ignorant.And in due course of time, it becomes dull and incapable of thinking beyond hackneyed.You ,in that case, are no better than-A frog in the well, ignorant of the beautiful world beyond.So break free from all the hassles...dare to dream,dare to welcome ideas.Feed your mind as you feed your body...and not to mention..feed your soul too.
